Prestige Flooring & Hardwood Ltd is a fast growing, locally owned flooring store in Saskatoon. As the Assistant Controller, you will utilize your accounting education and experience to ensure accurate reporting, strategic financial management and smooth functioning administrative operations for our organization.
*Responsibilities:*
* Manage the Administration team
* Fully manage A/R, A/P and inventory subledger records
* Prepare bi-weekly pay for approximately 15 employees and independent contractors
* Supervise retail point-of-use (POS) transactions to ensure accuracy and sales tax compliance
* Assist in HR activities
* Manage deposits and daily cash balances
* Maintain a detailed job-costing system
* Oversee customer collections
* Ensure accurate and appropriate recording of all financial transactions
* Routinely reconcile various general ledger accounts including bank accounts
* Assist in preparing timely and accurate financial reporting including preparing working papers and adjusting entries
* Ensure standard operating procedures (SOPs) are documented and maintained
* Prepare ad hoc analysis and reporting as required and perform other duties as assigned
* Liaise with external IT firm regarding corporate technology requirements
* Provide customer-facing reception and sales clerk relief as required

* Extremely detail-oriented and analytical with ability to identify and solve complex problems
* Accountable for the quality and timeliness of work with the ability to work overtime as required for deadlines
*Qualifications and Experience*:
* Completed advanced, formal accounting courses or currently obtaining a professional accounting designation (CPA)
* 3 to 5 years advanced accounting experience, preferably in a retail and multi-company environment
* A thorough understanding of basic and advanced financial accounting principles
* Experience in developing and using working papers is preferred
* Advanced experience working with Quickbooks, preferably in a retail environment
* An advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with proficient Excel skills
* Experience working with and understanding an ERP system
This is a full-time position with a standard Monday to Friday work week. The successful candidate will receive a competitive compensation package based on education and experience.
