Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Load and unload goods. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform brake adjustments. Perform emergency roadside repairs. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Perform preventive maintenance. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Air Brakes Endorsement. Class 3/3F/DF Licence (trailer truck, vehicles with more than 3 axles). Documentation knowledge: Trip reports. Type of trucking and equipment: Dump truck. Communication systems experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Repetitive tasks. Sitting. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Personal suitability: Flexibility. Judgement. Reliability. Team player. Experience: 1 to less than 7 months.
