Location: <p>Redvers School, located in the community of Redvers, SK<p>Term: <p>Start Date: As soon as possible<p>End Date: Not ApplicableTenure: <p>PermanentHours of Work: <p>419 annual hours (prorated) to be assigned by the Principal<p>Duties: The Library Technician shall perform such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned including but not restricted to the following: Maintain computer-based circulation and cataloguing protocols both within and between schools.<p> Assist teachers and/or students in the location and use of Resource Centre materials such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, almanacs, indexes, handbooks, directories and yearbooks.<p> Assist teachers/teacher librarians in the gathering of materials for reading and research periods, units of work, Resource-Based Learning and library skills instruction<p> Code according to MARC standard, input, and edit information for an automated catalogue system while applying the Dewey Decimal and Library of Congress classification systems.<p> Use database management systems and word processing packages.<p> Maintain authority files and cross references.<p> Take regular inventory of resources and weed materials as defined in Administrative Procedures.<p> Maintain a comprehensive inventory of resource collections and update annually.<p> Maintain learning resource centre circulation systems such as editing records, adding and deleting patron records, utilities, etc.<p> Assist in the maintenance of the vertical file and periodical collection if necessary<p> Assist teachers/teacher librarians in the acquisition of resources, order consumables.<p> Compile and send out overdue letters to staff and students.<p> Assist in the supervision of students and work with community volunteers in the Resource Centre.<p> Be willing to engage in lifelong learning with respect to training, in-service and courses of study.<p> Be knowledgeable and supportive of applicable Board policies and procedures.<p> Conduct oneself in a manner appropriate to an educational institution by dealing tactfully with staff, students and the public.<p>Qualifications: Minimum Grade 12 diploma from an institution recognized by the Board of Education <p> Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and be flexible <p> Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as an effective team member <p> Demonstrated knowledge of school computer software such as word processing and computer assisted learning software <p> An Information & Library Technology or equivalent diploma will be considered an asset <p> Commitment to the ideals of public education as well as the mission, vision and guiding principles of the South East Cornerstone Public School Division<p>Salary & Benefits: <p>Salary and benefits are in accordance with the currently negotiated CUPE 4869 Collective Agreement as listed on our website www.secpsd.ca. The starting wage for this position is currently $19.69/hour along with a full benefit package and an employer defined pension plan.
