Education: College/CEGEP. Work setting: Installation. Maintenance. On-site customer service. Repair. Various locations. Tasks: Inspect and test cable signals and associated equipment. Install and maintain aerial and underground telephone equipment. Install trunking systems, circuits and equipment. Climb and work aloft on poles, ladders or other support structures. Determine work assignments. Repair or replace faulty cables, power suppliers and amplifiers. Splice, join and connect wires. Repair or replace defective telephone equipment. Analyze test results and instrument readings. Communicate with other workers to co-ordinate the preparation and completion of work assignments. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Personal suitability: Flexibility. Organized. Reliability.
