As a Junior Paralegal, you will be an essential part of our legal team, actively participating in various legal processes and contributing to the overall efficiency of our operations. Your responsibilities will include assisting with a range of legal matters, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, and providing valuable support to attorneys. In this role, you will contribute to fostering a positive work environment and contribute to maintaining the firm's reputation through your dedicated efforts. Junior Paralegals play a vital role within our dynamic legal team, engaging in diverse legal tasks to support our practice.
This position requires effective communication skills, a client-oriented approach, and a solid understanding of legal procedures. As a Junior Paralegal, the ability to multitask efficiently, organizational proficiency, and strong interpersonal skills are crucial for achieving success in this role.
*Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB) Support:*
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of cases before the Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB), ensuring compliance with the Residential Tenancy Act and Rental Fairness Act.
- Conduct legal research, gather evidence, and assist in negotiations to resolve landlord-tenant disputes.
*Small Claims Court Assistance:*
- Support the litigation process in Small Claims Court, including drafting pleadings, organizing documentation, and participating in settlement conferences.
- Collaborate with senior paralegals to manage trial preparations and ensure timely and accurate filing of court documents.
*Human Rights Legislation:*
- Develop a foundational understanding of the Ontario Human Rights Code and assist in applying its principles to cases involving discrimination.
- Support the investigation of human rights violations, conduct legal research, and contribute to the development of legal strategies.
*Fire Protection and Prevention Act:*
- Acquire basic knowledge of the Fire Protection and Prevention Act and assist in integrating relevant regulations into property-related litigation cases.
- Collaborate with senior team members to gather technical information and evidence related to fire safety compliance.
*Ontario Building Code Assistance:*
- Support senior paralegals in addressing disputes related to property standards, construction defects, and building code violations.
- Assist in advising clients on compliance with building code regulations and contribute to litigation strategies.
*Legal Research and Analysis:*
- Conduct legal research to support litigation strategies and stay updated on developments in property law, human rights law, and related fields.
- Analyze legal issues, draft legal memoranda, and contribute to case assessments.
*Client Support:*
- Assist in maintaining strong client relationships by providing regular updates, managing documentation, and ensuring clear communication.
