<p>Nutritionist (Contractor - 1.0 Position) <p>The Athabasca Denesuline Education Authority (ADEA) is a First Nation Education Authority serving the three Denesuline First Nations communities in northern Saskatchewan; Black Lake First Nation, Hatchet Lake First Nation, and Fond Du Lac First Nation. The Authority serves a total student population of approximately 1,300+ students. The Authority is working toward improved educational outcomes by utilizing the latest technology, progressively piloting programs, and integrating Denesuline culture into the classroom and school curriculum.<p> <p>The Position <p>Athabasca Denesuline Education Authority has a contract opening for a Nutritionist for the 2024-2025 school year. This position will work as a resource to the development of strong comprehensive school-based nutrition interventions with emphasis on Canada?s Food Guide Healthy Eating in Schools and other initiatives that support the whole child. All programming will be rooted in the Denesuline Land-based Culture & Language.<p> <p>Duties <p><p> Research & evaluate existing practices in each of the ADEA four schools<p> Develop and lead creative, innovative projects and teams to promote the ADEA Nutrition/Food Programs<p> Create a plan for Nutrition Education Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12<p> Audit required resources for School Programs<p> Build partnerships and secure grants for sustained funding in nutrition and food security.<p><p> <p>The Deliverables <p>With the development of strong, comprehensive school-based nutrition intervention programs, the deliverables shall be as follows but not limited to: <p><p> Develop the necessary procedures, programming, equipment, and food to feed all students daily, <p> Provide quality classroom nutrition instruction & resources for classroom teachers<p> Offer hands-on practical experiences to students with a focus on healthy choices<p> Promote the use of Canada?s Food Guide Healthy Eating in Schools, which will contribute healthier food choices and decreased nutrition-related chronic diseases. <p><p> <p>Qualifications <p>The Contractor is under the general direction of the Director of Education of ADEA and must possess some of the requirements listed below: <p><p> Registered with or eligible to register with the Saskatchewan College of Dieticians would be considered an asset <p> Have significant education and experience in program delivering for School Nutrition/Food Programs<p> Have significant experience in professional development in Nutrition; and<p> Have a strong desire to support the schools and the staff working with children in the communities of Black Lake, Fond du Lac, and Hatchet Lake.<p><p> <p> <p> <p> <p> <p> <p>Where to apply: <p>If you are interested in applying for the above position, please submit your resume along with a cover letter, references and a most recent Criminal Police Record Check and a Child Vulnerable Sector Check to:<p> <p>Athabasca Denesuline Education Authority<p>Human Resources Department<p>Attention: Human Resources Department <p>153 South Industrial Drive<p>Prince Albert, SK S6V 7L7<p>Phone: (306) 922-9857<p>Fax: (306) 922-9838<p>Email: hrs@adeask.ca<p> <p>Only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted further.<p>
