OSSTF - PSSP <p>Comp. 24-188<p>Closing date : 2024-05-23 @ 4:00 pm EST<p>Attendance Counsellor - Permanent - Southern Region <p>Location: Timiskaming District Secondary School or Kirkland Lake District Composite School (servicing schools from Kirkland Lake to Temagami)<p>Start date: August 21, 2024Position Summary: The Attendance Counsellor ensures that students attend school regularly and comply with the compulsory attendance requirements of the Ontario Education Act. An attendance counsellor also provides support and guidance to students, parents, and school staff to address the causes and consequences of non-attendance and to promote a positive learning environment.<p>Qualifications: Post-secondary education in social services or related field.<p> Demonstrated experience working with children and youth in an educational or community setting.<p> Experience with attendance intervention, case management, conflict resolution, mediation and crisis intervention is preferred.<p> Must hold a valid driver's license, have access to a reliable vehicle and be willing and able to travel within the school district and surrounding areas. <p>Salary as per the current OSSTF - PSSP Collective Agreement Collective Agreements (dsb1.ca)<p>Interested Candidates:<p>Postings can be found on the DSB1 website at www.dsb1.ca and on ApplytoEducation at www.applytoeducation.com.
