Tasks: Monitor patients and advise physician of any changes in patients' condition. Perform diagnostic tests. Advise patients on drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs. Ensure infection control. Manage labour and spontaneous normal deliveries. Provide advice and guidance regarding care for newborns and young infants. Provide primary, full-course, care to women and their babies during pregnancy, labour, birth and the post-natal period including monitoring the health of mother and baby. Advise patients on health care. Examine patients and take their medical histories and consult with physicians and other medical practitioners to evaluate patients' physical and mental health. Order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures. Conduct patient interviews, physical assessments and take medical histories. Inoculate and vaccinate patients to prevent and treat diseases. Provide health maintenance education. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certificate. Canadian Paediatric Society (CPS) neonatal resuscitation program. Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE). Fetal health surveillance¿Certification. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate. CPR Certificate. Licensure by the appropriate provincial or territorial authority for midwives. Licensure as a Nurse Practitioner by the province/territory of work.
