Our schools are teaching communities where principals, vice-principals, teachers and support staff nurture student well-being and challenge students to achieve their best.We are seeking creative, dynamic, committed educational leaders<p> to join the following initiative:<p>Communicative Disorder Assistant <p>100% Regular (10 month work year) <p>$44,749 to $57,717 <p>Learning Support Services, 133 Greenbank Road, Nepean DUTIES : The Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) reports directly to the Supervisor of Speech-Language Pathology, and works under the direction and clinical supervision of the Boards speech-language pathologists (SLPs) to collaborate with educators in the delivery of programs and interventions for students with communication and learning needs.<p>REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES Excellent interpersonal skills for working with a team of professionals and educators.<p> Must have the ability to take direction from and work collaboratively with speech-language pathologists as clinical supervisors. <p> Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to collect data and maintain student progress accurately and in detail. <p> Strong time management, organization and multi-tasking skills to manage large caseload, prioritize competing demands, balance urgent needs and sustained needs, and ensure timely and consistent services.<p> Ability to learn necessary technology and computer literacy. <p> Use of audio-visual equipment, printers, Internet, computers, computer software programs, communication equipment, photocopier, screening and therapy tools, and adapting and applying software.<p> Ability to adapt to change and maintain resilience, optimism and flexibility. <p> Valid Ontario Class G license and use of personal vehicle for travel to school sites.<p> Strong knowledge about AAC and experience with student/educator training would be an assetEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE <p>This position requires two year post-secondary education and a one year Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) graduate certificate from a recognized community college, and 2 years of experience working with school-aged children as a CDA is required. Must have a passion for working with students with complex needs (e.g., Autism, Developmental Disabilities) who may present with significantly challenging behaviour.
