POSITION OVERVIEWThe IT Projects Manager is responsible for leading and facilitating the City?s path forward in the use of modern business processes and technological solutions. The IT Projects Manager supports the Business Technology Steering Committee and manages multiple concurrent technology projects of varying sizes and complexity. This involves full-cycle project management including conception and initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring and controlling, and sustainment transition. The IT Projects Manager ensures effective project management practices are deployed for effective project delivery including scope, schedule, budget, governance, and risk management. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, success is defined by seamless project delivery from the inception of visionary ideas to the final transition into sustainable operations. In this pivotal role, the IT Project Manager builds bridges, forges connections, and empowers diverse teams to bring out the best in every individual. If you?re driven by the belief that effective project management is a catalyst for change and thrives on innovation, collaboration and delivering tangible results, this is the role for you!EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEThe knowledge, skills, and experience required for this job are usually obtained through a recognized bachelor?s degree in business, computer science, or related field plus five years of enterprise technology project management experience including experience in business case development and technology procurement, or an equivalent combination of directly related education, training, and experience. Acceptable combinations of education and experience may be considered for this position. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESConsiderable knowledge of project management methods, practices and procedures in a technology environment. Considerable knowledge of business analysis, business process design, change management practices and tools. Excellent relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders through effective communication and influencing skills. Demonstrated skills in budget and schedule management, scope and risk management, delegation, and prioritization. Strong organizational skills, including the ability to plan, prioritize, schedule, and monitor execution of projects. Problem-solving skills and decision-making skills that yield solution-oriented results. Ability to gather project requirements and translate these into a viable project scope of work. Ability to manage and monitor project performance, including managing the performance of vendors. Ability to lead, mentor, and develop staff in a unionized environment. Ability to work well under pressure and shift gears based on changing priorities.
