Tsawwassen First NationWastewater Treatment Operator Level I Permanent Full Time Tsawwassen First Nation (TFN) has invested more than $100 million in new infrastructure, this infrastructure is essential for the continuing development taking place on its Treaty Lands. TFN?s Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) became operational in January 2016. The STP is a SBR process and is classified as a Level III facility. The facility is designed to treat up to 8,000 m3 of municipal wastewater daily. As our community continues to flourish, we are seeking a Wastewater Treatment Level 1 Operator. In this role, you will assist in the seamless operation of the Sewage Treatment Plant. Your contributions will play a vital role in meeting and exceeding regulatory standards, ensuring compliance with the BC Municipal Wastewater Regulation, Canadian Wastewater Systems Effluent Regulation, BC Drinking Water Protection Act and Regulation, W.C.B. regulations, TFN Policy, Procedures, and other relevant regulations, policies, or procedures. Specific Responsibilities:As part of a multi-utilities team, operates, monitors, and maintains the Water & Wastewater Infrastructure with duties primarily positioned at the Sewage Treatment Plant. Conducts sampling of wastewater, water. Performs instrumentation calibrations, maintains, and repairs the assets of the STP as required. Performs laboratory analyses and data collection for process control. Assists the Utilities Supervisor in the creation or updating of process monitoring methods and recordkeeping. Corresponds with contractors, suppliers, and other entities to facilitate completion of duties as assigned. Prepares and submits necessary documentation and performs recordkeeping as required. Assists in maintaining other assets of the Water & Wastewater Infrastructure as required. Maintains EOCP certification and progresses towards higher certification by completing required training. Works in a safe and conducive manner; adhering to the TFN Safety program, policies, and procedures. Maintains their certification validity by completing required coursework and training, works towards EOCP Level III in Wastewater Treatment. Once Trained will be included in a ?on call? rotation and must be available and suitable for work to respond to after-hours infrastructure alarms and emergencies. Weekend work may be required. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Utilities Supervisor.Qualifications: Valid EOCP Level I wastewater treatment certification. Experience in water distribution, wastewater collection, and storm water pumping systems is an asset. Operations experience in a Level II or greater wastewater treatment facility. Completion of a recognized two-year diploma course with emphasis on related sciences (environmental science, chemistry, biology, pollution control, etc.). Some experience in environmental (water, wastewater, sediment, biota) sampling or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge of environmental and wastewater sampling techniques. Ability to perform sampling of wastewater and to participate in the emergency response investigations of spills. Ability to perform physically demanding work in all types of weather and to work effectively at heights or in confined spaces. Up to date confined space entry and rescue certification considered an asset. Familiarity with relevant regulations, policies, and safety protocols. Strong communication skills both orally and in writing. Strong analytical skills for effective monitoring and troubleshooting of the systems and facilities included in the Water and Wastewater Infrastructure. Competency in the use of the Microsoft office suite and the use of a computer terminal to input, manipulate, retrieve data and maintain records and documentation related to the work. Additional knowledge of CMMS, SCADA, HMI, GIS, and other programs an asset. Strong
