Job details
Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Tasks: Operate disinfection systems. Analyze test results and instrument readings. Collect and test water samples for chemical and bacterial content. Collect waste and sewage samples. Complete and maintain plant logs and reports. Help with the installation, the assembly, and repairs to equipment. Maintain chemical feed stocks. Make adjustments to plant equipment and systems. Monitor and inspect plant equipment and systems to detect equipment malfunctioning and to ensure plant systems are operating normally. Monitor and read recording instruments to detect equipment malfunctions and ensure plant systems and equipment are operating within prescribed limits. Operate and monitor computerized control systems and related equipment to regulate the treatment and distribution of water. Patrol plant to check pumps, motors, filters, chlorinators and other plant equipment. Read recording instruments to measure output and consumption levels, bacterial content, chlorine and fluoride levels. Respond to customer complaints on water quality problems. Transport and mix chemicals, and operate equipment used to unload chemicals. Repair and maintain equipment. Specialization or experience: Specialized environmental skills and knowledge. Area of specialization: Water conditioners. Water management. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail.
