Pembina Hills School Division invites applications for an Occupational Therapist starting August 26, 2024. The Division Pembina Hills School Division provides education to approximately 3600 students in 16 community schools including two Hutterite Colony Schools and two outreach schools. PHSD also provides education to over 10,000 students from within and beyond our borders, through our online school, Vista Virtual School. For more information on our remarkable Division, please visit our website atwww.pembinahills.ca ThePosition As the successful candidate, you willwork as part of a team in delivering support services to children in pre-school, school, home and community environments, withthe majority of the first year of the assignment targeting preschool and kindergarten students.Along with speech language pathologists, your collaborative team would include psychologists, behaviour specialists and special educators, in addition to other occupational therapists. This position is based on the school calendar, with extended time off at Christmas, Easter and the summer.There is also in frequent group consultation and access tonumerous regional and national professional development activities.Hours of work will be Monday Friday at 7.5hours/day following the school calendar. Successful candidate responsibilities: Provides universal, targeted and individualized supports and services as a member of the School Linked Team Supports the Child and Family Centered approach to the delivery of services that views the whole family including the child as the focus Engages parents as active partners at home and in planning and decision making Provides a flexible approach to service delivery adjusting to the diverse and changing needs of the child and family Provides consultative supports and services that promote academic and social inclusion Supports and develops a strength based model of services Promotes mental health and wellness Delivers specialized services that include: sensory/self-regulation, visual perceptual skills, physical skills, organizational skills and life skills Promotes engagement and participation in literacy and numeracy by reducing barriers to learning Delivers services to several school districts in the region Delivers supports and services in a geographic area that serves the areas of Westlock and Athabasca areas as well as smaller communities in between these locations To work with Pembina Hills School Division, you must: Be eligible to register with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists Have a valid drivers license Be available to travel and have access to a vehicle The Benefits Excellent benefit package through the Alberta School Employee Benefit Plan which includes Extended Health Care Dental Care Vision Care Extended Disability Benefits Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Pension Plan through Local Authorities Pension Plan Health & Wellness Spending Account 14 General and Board declared holidays For further information, please contact: Rob McGarva, Director of Student Services at 780-674-8506 or Rob.McGarva@pembinahills.ca This competition will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.
