Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Various locations. Willing to relocate. Relocation costs covered by employer. Tasks: Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy. Load and unload goods. Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform brake adjustments. Perform emergency roadside repairs. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Transport and handle dangerous goods. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Air Brake (Z) Endorsement. Driver's License (Class 1 or A). Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate. Documentation knowledge: Bill of lading. Driver logbook. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Type of trucking and equipment: Tractor-trailer. Transportation/travel experience: Long-haul. Security and safety: Valid passport. Driver's validity licence check. Driving record check (abstract). Drug test. Transportation/travel information: Drive manual transmission vehicle. Travel expenses paid by employer. Valid driver's licence. Willing to travel cross-border. Willing to travel internationally. Willing to travel overnight. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Handling heavy loads. Large workload. Physically demanding.
