*Job Overview:*
We are seeking to add another lawyer to our office - but not just any lawyer. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, ambitious, and will take responsibility for their future within the office.
You will NOT be expected to work long hours until your will to continue in this profession is extinguished, and you will NOT be expected to sleep at or under your desk. Going home and having a life is encouraged.
You will*:*
- be expected to strive towards continual improvement and a high level of professional competency;
- work directly with clients to identify and resolve their legal issues in the areas of family law and civil litigation;
- advise clients on legal rights, obligations, and options;
- conduct legal research and analysis to support legal positions and proceedings;
- draft pleadings, affidavits, briefs, and routine documents;
- represent clients in court hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings;
- negotiate settlements and agreements on behalf of clients;
- collaborate with colleagues to develop case strategies;
- stay updated on changes in laws and regulations that may impact client cases;
- maintain accurate and organized notes, records and case files;
*Required Skills:*
- Strong knowledge of legal principles and procedures;
- Proficient in using legal research tools;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to conduct thorough legal research and analysis
- Strong negotiation skills
- High sense of personal initiative
*Requirements:*
- You must have a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree (or LLB) from an accredited law school; AND
- be a member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia; OR
- you will be admitted as a member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia prior to commencing employment;
- you will also require a valid BC Driver's License and your own vehicle as travel to various court locations will likely be required.
*Preferences:*
- The ability to provide advice in a second language is preferred;
- Experience in Family Law preferred
- Those with professional experience outside of law are further encouraged to apply
We have a generous compensation package for the right lawyer which starts with a base bay assumption with incentives that increase your pay substantially based on collected billing.
There is additional compensation for work related vehicle use, law society fees and professional development. You will also have the opportunity to participate in company wellness initiatives, and benefit from available extended health and dental plan options.

Pay: $60,000.00-$160,000.00 per year
