Education: Bachelor's degree. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Home care and visiting care agency. Hospital/medical facility or clinic. Nursing home/home for the aged. Chronic or long-term care facilities/centres. Retirement home. Tasks: Administer medications. Apply aseptic techniques including sterile dressing. Conduct specimen collection. Ensure infection control. Monitor nutritional intake. Observe and record medication's therapeutic and side effects . Record medication's therapeutic and side effects observations in patient files. Take vital signs. Monitor established respiratory therapy and intravenous therapy. Provide safety and health education to individuals and their families. Provide nursing services, within defined scope of practice, to patients based on patient assessment and care planning procedures. Monitor patients' progress, evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and consult with appropriate members of healthcare team. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Acute care nursing Certificate. Certified foot care nurse. Eligible for licensure as a practical nurse by the province/territory of work. Completion of the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate. Certified Nurse in Critical Care - Canada (CNCC-C). Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certificate. CPR Certificate. First Aid Certificate. Specialization or experience: Green economy sector. Area of specialization: Geriatrics. Palliative care. Security and safety: Bondable. Basic security clearance. Immunization records. Eligible for professional liability insurance. Tuberculosis test. Adult Abuse Registry check. Vulnerable sector check.
