Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Various locations. Work in employer's/client's home. Tasks: Inspect, measure and mark surfaces to be covered. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Measure, cut and fasten underlay and underpadding. Prepare flooring plans and scheduling. Measure, cut and install resilient floor coverings. Prepare and install hardwood floors. Inspect and repair damaged floor coverings. Conduct moisture, ph, temperature and other tests prior to flooring installations. Estimate costs and materials. Prepare floors for installations. Remove existing floor coverings and contaminants. Installation specialization: Vinyl or resilient tiles. Vinyl or resilient sheets. Hardwood strip flooring. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Driver's validity licence check. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Personal suitability: Client focus. Efficient interpersonal skills. Organized. Team player. Screening questions: Are you available for shift or on-call work?. Do you have experience working in this field?. Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years.
