Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Assembly. Heavy machinery manufacturing. Tasks: Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts. Read electrical schematics, blueprints and other technical diagrams. Disassemble defective units and repair or replace suspect parts. Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work. Service attachments and working tools. Help with the installation, the assembly, and repairs to equipment. Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions. Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required. Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Automotive Service Licence (310S). Truck and Coach Service Licence (310T). Diesel engine repair specialization: Installation and alignment of engines and machinery. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Attention to detail. Standing for extended periods. Manual dexterity. Hand-eye co-ordination. Sound discrimination. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Tools. Steel-toed safety boots. Safety glasses/goggles. Gloves. Personal suitability: Excellent oral communication.
