Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Outdoors. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Plan, direct and supervise or conduct surveys to establish legal boundaries of properties. Record all measurements and other information obtained during survey activities. Advise and provide consultation on matters related to legal surveys. Determine precise locations using electronic distance measuring equipment. Survey and lay out subdivisions for rural and urban development. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Field skills experience: Operate survey equipment. Operate total station to obtain information about property boundaries. Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Own vehicle. Vehicle supplied by employer. Travel expenses paid by employer. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Work under pressure. Tight deadlines. Attention to detail. Ability to distinguish between colours. Hand-eye co-ordination. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Standing for extended periods. Walking.
