*Job Description* Weaver Simmons LLP is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a *Legal Assistant* in our Sudbury office. The successful candidate will provide administrative and clerical support to lawyers within our Immigration Law Department. The ideal candidate is organized, professional, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality. *Duties & Responsibilities:* · Prepare, review, and organize immigration applications, legal documents, forms, and correspondence. · Assist lawyers with a variety of Canadian immigration matters, including temporary resident visas, work permits, study permits, permanent residence applications, family sponsorships, citizenship applications, and other immigration-related matters. · Communicate professionally with clients by phone, email, and in person regarding file status, required documentation, and application updates. · Communicate with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), provincial immigration programs, employers, and other government agencies regarding client matters. · Schedule appointments, meetings, and signing appointments for lawyers and clients. · Open, maintain, and close client files in accordance with firm procedures. · Docket time and disbursements, prepare billings, and trust statements. · Maintain accurate file records and ensure all deadlines are met. · Handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion. · Perform other duties as assigned. *Job Requirements:* * Minimum 2 years of experience preparing and processing Canadian immigration applications in a legal, consulting, or professional office environment. * Preferred completion of a college diploma or certificate in Legal Administration, Office Administration, or a related field. * Working knowledge of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) application requirements, procedures, and online portals. * Strong verbal and written communication skills. Fluency in English is required. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal software is considered an asset. * Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively. * Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. * Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team. * Knowledge of Law Society of Ontario (LSO) requirements is considered an asset.
