Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Work site environment: Confined spaces. Noisy. In/on water. Work setting: Staff accommodation provided. Remote location. Tasks: Conduct maintenance and emergency repairs to engines, machinery and all auxiliary equipment. Inspect maintenance and emergency repairs done on engines, machinery and all auxiliary equipment. Operate main engines, machinery and auxiliary equipment on ships. Supervise and co-ordinate activities of engine room crew. Stand engine room watch, monitoring and noting performance of engines, machinery and all auxiliary equipment. Maintain records and prepare reports on engine performance and failures. Supervision: 3-4 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : 2nd Class Marine Engineer Certificate. Type of experience: Tank vessel. Passenger ship. Bulk cargo vessel. Container vessel. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Physically demanding. Attention to detail.
