<h3>Job Description</h3><div>Job Description<div>Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Carpenter to join our dynamic construction team on Salt Spring Island, BC. Duties<ul><li>Read and interpret detailed blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately execute projects.</li><li>Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools.</li><li>Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood and wood substitutes.</li><li>Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls/roof systems.</li><li>Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware.</li><li>Lead and perform concrete forming, rebar installation, masonry work, and roofing tasks with precision.</li><li>Install cabinetry, drywall, siding, flooring, tile, and perform finishing work such as painting and caulking.</li><li>Build custom high quality structures such as saunas, sheds, and outbuildings</li><li>Supervise, mentor, and coordinate construction crews and apprentices on site.</li><li>Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site in accordance with WorkSafeBC regulations.</li><li>Operate hand tools, power tools, and other specialized equipment safely and efficiently.</li><li>Collaborate with project manager to plan workflows and troubleshoot technical issues during construction or restoration projects.</li><li>Support handyman tasks including plumbing, electrical work, siding installation, and general repairs as needed.</li></ul> Qualifications<ul><li>At minimum 5 years proven experience in carpentry or construction, 10 + years preferred</li><li>Strong background in residential, commercial, and industrial construction including single family home construction, steel structures, and precast concrete construction.</li><li>Strong custom woodworking/finishing skills preferred.</li><li>Proficiency in blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and construction estimating.</li><li>Skilled in concrete forming, masonry, roofing, siding installation, tile laying, drywall installation, painting & finishing.</li><li>Knowledge of plumbing systems, electrical wiring basics, rebar installation, manufacturing processes or restoration techniques is desirable.</li><li>Ability to use hand tools and power tools including stationary and handheld woodworking machinery (track saws, planers, jointers) safely while maintaining high-quality craftsmanship standards.</li><li>Strong understanding of safety protocols related to construction sites including scaffolding use and hazardous material handling.</li><li>Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt quickly to changing project requirements.</li><li>Ability to work both collaboratively and independently within a team environment, show leadership qualities and be both efficient and reliable.</li><li>English language requirement</li></ul> Experience: <ul><li>Carpentry: 5 years (required), 10 + years preferred</li></ul> Location: <ul><li>Salt Spring Island, BC (required)</li></ul> Work Location: In person </div></div>
