Harvey Marine Base Container Depot located on Sugarloaf Rd. This role will require the day-to-day, normal responsibilities of a Journeyperson Welder that will typically revolve around *production, quality control, and workplace safety. *The Journeyperson Welder will also have a responsibility to work with Lead Hand and Manager to maintain an orderly flow of container repairs and maintenance. The role of the Journeyperson Welder will have many responsibilities, which include but are not limited to the following: * Perform high-quality welding using MIG, Stick, and Flux-Core on various metals. * Perform all duties of a certified welder including welding, grinding, and use of plasma cutter and other tools to repair containers and other equipment. * Measure, cut and fit materials prior to welding using manual and power tools. * Provide guidance and support to apprentice welders on site. * Ability to operate a forklift to move containers in and out of welding shop. * Maintain clean welds that pass visual inspection or NDT while adhering to all required standards including ISO 9001 and AHarvey safety program. * Ensure container and tank fleet are scheduled for required inspection. * Ensure compliance with container inspection and maintenance plan. * Identify damage trends and suggest operational or design solutions. * Coordinate and work with inspection contractors as required. * Help maintain the parts inventory by notifying Lead or Manager when replacement parts, gases, material and consumables need to be reordered. * Ensure equipment checks are done. * Other duties as assigned. *The Candidate* The ideal candidate will possess: * Interprovincial Red Seal Welder certification * T-Class welding certification would be considered an asset * Superior oral, written, interpersonal and communication skills. * Ability to provide professional and courteous service in any scenario. * Self-confident individual with strong organizational skills that can prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines in an efficient manner. * Strong problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills. * Ability to recognize and resolve conflict. * Effective competence in safety management, TDG/IMDG, WHMIS, ISO and environmental response. * Aptitude for mechanics, equipment and transportation systems. The ideal candidate will be: * Able to work in a repetitive, multitask environment with high degree of interruption. * Able to work independently and in a team environment. * Capable to work effectively under stressful situations. * Able to understand and work with diverse groups of people and clients. * Comfortable working in an environment with heavy machinery and materials. * Dependable with proficient attention to detail. * Able to work on a flexible schedule, determined by business requirements.
